Editing the Shopware 6 footer – Step-by-step guide

You can customize the footer of your website according to your individual preferences. This is an important part of your shop where you can place important information. This usually includes contact details, legal notices, and various navigation links. To ensure that visitors can find the information they need quickly without tedious scrolling, you should design your footer well.

In our article, we explain in detail how you can edit the Shopware 6 footer. This will improve the professional appearance of your online shop and make navigation easier for visitors. It also has a positive effect on user experience and search engine optimization.

Customize Shopware 6 footer

To set up Shopware 6, you must log in to the admin area. You can map the structure of the footer menu using the categories. The category structure serves as the basis for this. This means that you must first create a category and then assign it to the menu.

There, you can create a new footer category by clicking on New Category. If Shopware 6 already has a footer, you can also create subcategories for different pages within it. This makes it easier for customers to access important information. In our case, we will try to create a subcategory called Contact.

Footer-Category

When customizing Shopware 6 footers, you must specify a name for the category. For the page with contact information, we simply write “Contact.”

Assign navigation entries to the sales channel

The menus are displayed in the frontend in the correct position when they are selected as entry points for the respective menus. To do this, you need to go to the settings for each sales channel. This opens the Basic Settings window. To define the structure in the footer, you should specify the entry point for footer navigation in Shopware 6.

Create shop page

To create any shop page, you should first create a specific layout. To do this, go to Content. Then click on Experience Worlds. Here you can create layouts for landing pages, shop, product, and category pages, and manage them centrally.

Create shop page

Each layout type contains sections. Next, you should determine how the section of the layout should look. There are two options: either select Sidebar or Full Width. The sidebar is better suited for category navigation or filters. Full Width is better suited for a shop page. So let's click on that.

In the next step, name the layout you want to create. Name it so that you can find it quickly. For a contact page, we write Contact and then click Create Layout.

Once you have successfully completed the basic configuration, go to the layout editor, where you can create new layouts and customize existing ones. For the contact page, you must first select a text block, which you can drag and drop to a specific location. Then fill this block with the desired content.

You can also add a block using the form. Other blocks are also available for creating category or product pages.

To save the changes you have made, click Save. This will give you a newly configured layout.

If you have recently configured a layout, you must assign it to the desired page. We will show you how to assign the created layout to the contact page. Open the layout and click on the Assign layout button.

Next, you need to find the right layout and click on “Apply layout.” Finally, you need to save everything.

If you do not create a new layout and select one from the existing ones, you can do so immediately after creating the category. To do this, open the Layout column, click on Change Layout, select the appropriate one, and save everything.

You can customize the existing layout if you wish by clicking on Edit in Designer. A window will then open where you can change both the text and the blocks, and add a background image or background color.
