Shopware logs for transparent monitoring
Shopware 6 offers event logs for an efficient overview of all actions in the online shop. This transparently reflects all events that take place in the shop. Shopware 6 logs thus help to track and monitor all processes. This is a perfect function of the system that is only suitable for operators of self-hosted online shops. What do event logs report on?
Logging is normally something very technical. However, it is very important to know where the error messages (Shopware error logs) can be found and what the logging menu in Shopware 6 settings means. It is necessary to log in to your Shopware account. Then you should go to Settings, select "System" - "Event logs".
Here you can track all events in your shop. For example, when a customer completes an order, an event appears. This event can be called "Checkout finished". Every action taken by the customer is mapped in a Shopware 6 log file. You can see the following events, such as checkout.customer.login, checkout.customer.register, mail.sent and much more.

This is what Shopware 6 event log looks like
The event log grid contains several columns (date, message, priority, content). You can see the time and date of the event that took place. Under Message, the area from which the log entry originates is displayed. Under Content you can see all the details of the message. You have to click on it to open it.
To emphasise the importance of the entry, the following priorities are given:
- Debug (100) - important entry for quick identification of errors;
- Info (100) - simple system information;
- Error (300) - Error message that requires checking.
- Critical (400) - serious error message that should be checked immediately.
You will find detailed information for each event. To open it, you should click on three dots. If you select mail.sent
in Shopware 6 Administration Log, you will see the recipient and the content of the email that has been sent. In this case it was a thank you letter for the registration.
If it is a different event and you need to report this to shop support, you can find and copy the necessary content of this event in the source code.
As the log entries are different, the information within the detail window is also displayed differently. The entries of mail logs are displayed as HTML, plain text, source text. For debug entries, only the source text format is available.
